For people celebrating Canada’s 153rd Birthday, this year’s Canada Day festivities will be unlike any other July 1 due to the global pandemic.

Canada Day is traditionally celebrated with an outstanding array of outdoor public events including carnivals, festivals, barbecues, free musical concerts, and air and maritime shows, as well as citizenship ceremonies.

However, Canada Day 2020 still looks set to be packed full of ways to show pride in being Canadian, with organisers finding inventive ways to host events without the large gatherings of people.

For example, in Toronto, the CN Tower is marking Canada day with a spectacular 15 minute light cannon display shooting lights across the city sky accompanied by an online musical playlist – meaning all of Toronto can simply look up from their own homes to enjoy it.

For those needing to celebrate Canada Day at home, a huge number of the traditional events have been set up to stream online so they can be enjoyed by people staying safely indoors.

One of Canada’s most iconic celebrations ‘Canada Day Together,’ is this year providing an online concert with performances from some of the country’s best loved music artists, while ‘Canada Day Across the Country’ provides a virtual tour of the nation, celebrating the cultural diversity, Indigenous culture and languages, and sporting excellence from Sudbury, Montréal, Québec, Moncton, Winnipeg, Yellowknife and Calgary.

In Niagara Falls, the city is hosting a day-long virtual festival with buskers, magicians, community leaders, and musical performances. Cities across Canada are also saluting the birthday celebrations by live-streaming concerts and events.

Some organisers have found ways to run fun yet socially distanced events.  Toronto Zoo are running a safari drive-thru, Markham Ontario is holding a drive-in concert followed by fireworks, and there is even a ‘drive-thru Rib Fest’ taking place in Burlington.

In Toronto, the well-loved event ‘Food Truck’N Canada Day Festival’ is making use of food delivery companies and socially distanced picnic areas to make sure that everyone can enjoy the traditional Canada Day treats together whilst staying safe.

From everyone at Stiltz Home Elevators, we would like to say a massive Happy Canada Day to all of our customers and authorized partners across the country.
